Gourmand, gourmet or glutton?

The Last Supper

When you really enjoy fine foods, wine, a good cigar or anything that excites your sense of taste, you engage in gourmandise, what this site is all about - and if this is one of your favorite pastimes, you are a gourmand. The picture above would be a good depiction of gourmandise if the participants in this little bash were really enjoying it.

If you see yourself as a gourmand, a gourmet or a glutton, there is something for you in this site: recipes, ideas about cuisine and commentary about anything related to the act of tasting - that could be food, wine, booze or cigars.

We would like you, the site visitor to contribute to its contents and be a part of making it useful and fun to visit. Send us recipes, comments, jokes, news, ideas, threats, wahatever. Have you seen a food or restaurant review you want to respond to? How about a dining experience - good or bad - that you would like to share? Tell us about it; we may publish it here.

Our friend to the left could lose her living quarters if she lets others see she is having fun. But most of us don't have to be so politically correct.

Browse this site and find all kinds of goodies. Have fun!

The Running of the Bulls

Many of us know about this event in the Pamplona annual San Fermin Festival, described in Ernest Hemingway´s 1926 novel, "The Sun Also Rises". During bullfighting season, criadillas (steer testicles a.k.a. Mountain Oysters) are plentiful and are a signature dish in a toreador popular restaurant near the Plaza de Toros (bull ring), the source of a very fresh product.

An adventurous foreign gourmet enjoyed the criadillas immensely, so, three years later, being in the area, could not pass up repeating the experience.

At the end of the meal, he told the server how great the dish was, but pointed out that the portion on his previous visit - two chunks of meat, each the size of a computer mouse - had been much more substantial than the two nuggets he was served this time.

The server´s reply: "But sir, the bullfighter doesn´t always win!"
